Michael Christie
Michael Christie is an award-winning Canadian author, born in Thunder Bay, Ontario
Prior to his career as a writer, he was a former professional skateboarder, carpenter, and homeless shelter worker. These experiences carry a heavy influence on his writing. His stories often revolve around themes of labor and social struggle
He currently lives on Galiano Island in British Columbia with his family in a wooden house he built himself. Michael Christie has a deep love and care for nature and the environment
Awards and accolades
Greenwood was a national bestseller and won the Arthur Ellis Award for Best Novel
It was also longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and a finalist for the BC Book Awards
Christie's debut, The Beggar’s Garden, won the Vancouver Book Award and was shortlisted for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize
If I Fall, If I Die won the Northern Lit Award and was a New York Times Editors' Choice Pick
